Wysoki Kamień (Ger. Hochstein them Isergebirge 1058 m a.m.s.l.) - the peak in the Western Sudetes, located in Wysoki Grzbiet (Jizera Mountains), just above the Szklarska Poręba. From the top of the peak you can see the panorama of the Giant Mountains, Kaczawskie Mountains and Rudawy Janowickie.
Straight from the top of Wysoka Kopa, we went in the direction to the Wysoki Kamień. On the way we pass by closed quartz mines again.
Around us spread the beautiful views from time to time enter into a charming tunnels of trees.
At
the top there is a shelter Wysoki Kamień and a good vantage point of
stacked rocks, from which spread a beautiful view of Szklarska Poreba
and the whole Sudety.
In 1837
the Schaffgotsch family, who own the land, built on top of the shelter
Hochsteinbaude, as one of the first in the Sudetenland. In 1875 was
established an observation tower, but in 1882 the building shelter
burned down but it was rebuilt in short time. After world war II was
vandalized and robbed, it was opened again to tourists in 1947, but had
only a few beds. In 1962, non-renovated hostel was closed, and in 1963
was demolished.
In
1996, a tender was announced for purchase of the land. The tender won
by the family Gołba from Szklarska Poreba. Since that year, thanks to
the new owners, this area was began to improve and started construction
of a new shelter.
