Sanok - a district town in Poland in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Located in the San Valley in the Carpathian Euroregion.
The city was founded in 1339 by Prince George. As confirmed by the location privilege issued for colonists from Germany, Poles, Hungarians and Rusyns under the Magdeburg law. The city was located at the crossroads of trade routes to Rus and Hungary. This is where the first names appear: 1150 Sanik, Sanok 1434, Schanok 1443.
